Things you need to travel with and things you should know
1. Contact Voice of Christ for your traveling expenses (round trip ticket, etc.) or you can purchase your own ticket.
2. You need a valid American passport. Call any Post Office closed to you. It can take about 4 to 6 weeks before you can have your passport.
3. Bring all your articles of toilet, flash light, sun cream, bugs spray, hand sanitizer or alcohol tissue, tylenol for pain and fever, pepto bismol or Mylanta as you preferred, bendaid, etc.
4. They allow you to bring two suitcases at 50 pounds and one carry on. They will charge $30 or $50.00 for the extra luggage depending on what flight you will be taking. Call your airline for more info.
5. Do not put no liquid like perfume, cologne, nail polish, scissors, water, etc. in your carry on. However, you can put them in your suitcases.
6. Do not forget your medicine if you are taking medicine and be sure you bring enough supply for the number of days you are going out.
7. Do not give your address, email address, your telephone number, or any personal information to anyone other than an Immigration Officer while you are on mission trip.
However, you can give out Voice of Christ information such as: Address, telephone number, email address.
8. It is prohibited to smoke or to drink alcohol while you are on the mission trip.
9. Women can wear jeans. However, shirt and skirt are required on Sunday only for church purposes. It is a very tropical country and there is a cultural issue involved.
10. You can contact your family by using Voice of Christ phone from Haiti. You can use your phone, unless you have made an arrangement with your phone company.
you can bring your computer as you are traveling. But, you would not get any internet connection at the Mission site. We are working on it.
11. It is always recommended to take a tetanus and a malaria shots when you are traveling to some places in the world, if you haven't taken one for the past 10 years. But, it is optional.
